KILZ® PVA DRYWALL PRIMER is designed for use on new drywall. It is a fast drying, interior water-based primer formulated to prime and seal new, uncoated drywall and reduce the number of topcoats required to achieve a uniform, professional quality finish. Designed for use under flat and low sheen paints only. Do not topcoat with glossy paint finishes.

Surface Preparation*

The following steps are recommended for product performance.

  • Cover all nail and screw heads with joint compound according to directions and sand to smooth surface.*

  • Tape drywall and apply joint compound. Allow to fully cure according to directions prior to priming.

  • Sand to smooth surface before priming.* Wipe off dust with a damp cloth. Allow to dry thoroughly.

Application

  • Eye protection is recommended.

  • Use only when temperatures are between 50°F (10°C) and 90°F (32°C).

  • Coverage is approximately 300-400 square feet per gallon depending on surface porosity.

  • For airless spray applications, tip size should be .017"-.021" tip/60 mesh filter.

  • May be tinted with up to 2 ounces of universal colorant per gallon.

  • Glossy Surfaces: Not recommended. Please use KILZ® PREMIUM or KILZ 2® Primers.

  • Masonry, Brick, Stucco and Plaster: Not recommended. Please use KILZ® PREMIUM or KILZ 2® Primers.

  • Stainblocking: Not formulated to block stains - For stainblocking, use oil based primers like KILZ® ORIGINAL and water based primers like KILZ 2® or KILZ® PREMIUM.

Dry Time

  • Dries to touch in 30 minutes at 77°F (25°C) and 50% humidity. Application at lower temperatures, high humidity or poor ventilation will affect dry time. Paint or topcoat after 2 hours.

Clean-Up & Disposal

  • Use soap and water to clean hands, tools, and spills.

  • For recycling or disposal of empty containers and unused product, contact your household refuse collection service.

LIFETIME LIMITED WARRANTY

Masterchem Industries LLC warrants to you, the original residential consumer purchaser, the performance of this product as described on this label for so long as you reside in your home. If this product is found to be defective upon inspection by its representative, Masterchem Industries LLC will, at its option and upon presentation of proof-ofpurchase (the original receipt), either furnish an equivalent amount of new product or refund the original purchase price of this product to you. This warranty is not transferable. This warranty excludes (1) labor and costs of labor for the application or removal of any product, and (2) any incidental or consequential damages, whether based on breach of express or implied warranty, negligence, strict liability or any other legal theory. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you. To the extent permitted by applicable law, any implied warranties including the implied warranties of merchantability and of fitness for a particular purpose, are limited to the duration of this express warranty. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights, which vary from state to state. Note to residents of the State of New Jersey: The provisions of this warranty, including its limitations, are intended to apply to the fullest extent permitted by the laws of the State of New Jersey. WARNING! If you scrape, sand, or remove old paint, you may release lead dust. LEAD IS TOXIC. EXPOSURE TO LEAD DUST CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ILLNESS, SUCH AS BRAIN DAMAGE, ESPECIALLY IN CHILDREN. USE ONLY WITH ADEQUATE VENTILATION

CAUTION! IRRITANT! HARMFUL OR FATAL IF SWALLOWED. Avoid contact with eyes. May cause eye, nose and throat irritation. Avoid breathing of dust, vapors or spray mist. Open windows and doors or use other means to ensure fresh air entry during application and drying. If you experience eye watering, headache, or dizziness, or if air monitoring demonstrates vapor / mist levels are above applicable limits, wear an appropriate, properly fitting respirator (NIOSH / MSHA TC 23C or equivalent) during and after application. Follow respirator manufacturer’s direction for respirator use. Close container after each use. Wash thoroughly after handling and before smoking and eating. WARNING: This product contains chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. FIRST AID: If swallowed, do not induce vomiting. Get medical attention immediately. If you experience difficulty in breathing, leave the area to obtain fresh air. If continued difficulty is experienced, get medical attention immediately.
