KILZ® STAINBLOCKING CEILING PAINT is a unique combination of stainblocking technology and a coverage/dry time indicator. It rolls on easily with minimal spattering and a subtle pink color that quickly dries to white. It can be used on all interior ceilings.

PRODUCT USAGE

THE FOLLOWING STEPS AND PRODUCTS ARE REQUIRED:

  • The surface must be clean, free of dust, grease, wax, peeling paint, mold, mildew, wallpaper paste. If washing is necessary, use a nonsoapy detergent or a TSP substitute. Rinse well and allow to dry.
  • Peeling or Checked Paint: Scrape off loose paint and sand to a smooth surface. Sanding or removal of paint containing lead is hazardous.
  • Glossy Surfaces: For maximum adhesion, scuff sand the surface thoroughly before painting.
  • Mold or Mildew Covered Surfaces: Wash the area with a mildew remover, rinse with water and allow to dry before painting

Application

  •   Eye protection is recommended.
  •   Apply if surface, air and product temperatures are between 50°-90°F.
  •   Stir thoroughly before and occasionally during use. Using a brush, roller or sprayer. Back roll sprayer applications.
  •   Use a quality Nylon/Polyester brush or a 3/8 - 1/2" nap quality roller depending on surface texture.
  •   Coverage varies by porosity. Coverage will be approximately 250 sq. ft. per gallon on porous surfaces; up to 400 sq. ft. per gallon on smooth, nonporous surfaces.
  •   Multiple coats may be required for complete hide.

Dry Time at 77°F (25°C), 50% RH

  • Dries to touch in 1 hour.
  • Color indicator will fade to white in under 1 hour.
  • Wait 2-4 hours before recoat.
  • Additional dry time may be needed in cooler temperatures and higher humidity. Premature heavy traffic may affect film integrity.

First Aid

If you experience difficulty in breathing, leave the area to obtain fresh air. If continued difficulty is experienced, get medical assistance immediately. In case of eye contact, flush immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes and get medical attention; for skin, wash thoroughly with soap and water. If swallowed, get medical attention immediately.
