KILZ OVER ARMOR® Textured Solid Color Coating

Preparation

The following steps and products are required: All surfaces must be clean, sound, dry and free of any dirt, oil, and grease before application.

Wood/Composite:

• Replace rotting or unstable boards and remove loose splinters.
• Remove mildew stains, dirt, oil and grease with a product such as a wood cleaner & brightener.
• Use a wood stain & finish stripper to remove all loose wood fibers, peeling paint/stain or deteriorated coatings prior to application of KILZ OVER ARMOR Textured Solid Color Coating (must be followed by a wood cleaner & brightener afterwards to neutralize).
• On new wood, use a wood cleaner & brightener to remove mill glaze and open the pores of the wood. Rinse thoroughly. When rinsing with a pressure washer, use the broadest spray pattern while while keeping the nozzle at least 24" away from the surface. Allow the area to dry at least 24 hours before coating. Lightly sand to remove remaining wood fibers/fuzz.

Concrete Surfaces:

• Avoid areas that are structurally weak or subject to hydrostatic pressure up to 8 psi.
• Allow new surfaces to cure for 30 days.
• Use a concrete & masonry stripper to strip peeling coating.
• Use a concrete & masonry cleaner & etcher to clean and etch uncoated concrete to achieve a textured profile similar to 150 grit sandpaper or a concrete & masonry degreaser & cleaner.

Application

• Brush: Nylon/polyester
• Roller: 1/4"–1/2" nap
• DO NOT USE WITH AIRLESS SPRAYER
• Dry Time: @ 77° & 50% RH
  • Dry To Touch: 4 hours
  • To Recoat: 4–6 hours
  • Light Foot Traffic: 24–48 hours
  • Full Cure: 72 hours
• For nail holes and cracks up to 1/4", completely fill in with KILZ OVER ARMOR Textured Coating using a nylon/polyester brush and allow to dry prior to rolling. Deep nail holes and cracks may require additional filling.
• Use pressure while rolling and apply generously.
• Avoid painting if humidity is expected to be greater than 80%
• 2 coats required

Clean up & Disposal

• Clean all tools and equipment with clean water.
• For proper disposal of empty containers and unused product, contact your household refuse collection service.

Cautions / Limitations

• Protect from freezing
• Do not use if rain is expected within 24 hours
• DO NOT THIN PRODUCT
• Avoid applying paint in direct sunlight or hot surfaces
• Test product for color on a small hidden area before proceeding
• Painted surfaces may become slippery when wet
• Shelf life under normal conditions is 2 years (unopened containers)
• Do not use on drivable surfaces such as garage floors and driveways.
• Temperature Range: 50–90°F (10–32°C)

WEAR EYE PROTECTION AND PROTECTIVE CLOTHING. USE ONLY WITH ADEQUATE VENTILATION. To avoid breathing vapors and spray mist, open windows and doors or use other means to ensure fresh air entry during application and drying. If you experience eye watering, headaches or dizziness, increase fresh air and use a properly fitted respirator (NIOSH approved for zorganic vapor with P Series particulate prefilter). Obtain professional advice before using. A dust mask does not provide protection against vapors. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Wash thoroughly after handling. Close container after each use.

First Aid

• If you experience difficulty in breathing, leave the area to obtain fresh air. If continued difficulty is experienced, get medical assistance immediately.
• In case of eye contact, flush immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes and get medical attention.
• For skin, wash thoroughly with soap and water.
• If swallowed, get medical attention immediately.
