Rated 1 out of 5 by from Splatters Purchased one can of Kilz Areosol primer today to cover knot hole bleed through on a piece of pine furniture. Primer came out in spatters and globs. I will have to do extensive sanding before attempting to repaint. Plan to return purchase.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from splatters and globs I bought this last week to prime a dollhous made of MDF--KILZ was recommended- Since I didn't need a gallon, I opted for the spray. It feels like stucco, and I'll probably have to sand it now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stops the bleed of water markk My mother had her roof replaced and had a few water spots on the ceiling. Her next door neighbor that was an aircondition technition told me to try this product on the ceiling spots before painting. It was quick and easy to use Kiltz in the spray can to covered the spots as a primer on her popcorn ceiling before applying ceiling paint to the whole ceiling at a later date. My mom never had any problems of the spots appearing from under the top coat of ceiling paint. I highly recommend this product for quick fix for small area coverage before painting.

About a week ago, I was painting a client's home in Tallahassee, Fl & I noticed olive oil spots all over the kitchen ceiling above the stove area. Well, I tried every primer/stain blocking primer on the market & the only primer that covered the stain was kilz areasol can primer. It was truly amazing!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great cover for water stains! We had a leak in attic from a condensate pump that's attached to our air conditioner. The COPPER line had a small pin hole spraying our insulation when it pumped. In our hot Texas heat it was working overtime by the time we notice it in our very tiny hall way. Your aerosol interior primer worked fabulously to eliminate any trace of water stain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super useful! When we had opened our new retail location, in a freshly built shipping center, our unit had drop ceilings with acoustic tiles. The roof turned out to have some leaks, and our nice new ceiling developed training through the soft tiles. We brought in can of this product and would walk the store every day or so using it to cover the staining and keep our establishment looking crisp, clean and new much longer than it might have without our diligence and use of this Kilz-in-a-can!

Surface Preparation

  • The surface must be clean, free of dust, grease, wax, peeling paint, mold, mildew, and/or wallpaper paste. If washing is necessary, use a non-soapy detergent or a TSP substitute. Rinse well and allow to dry.
  • Peeling or Checked Paint: Scrape off loose paint and sand to a smooth surface. Sanding or removal of paint containing lead is hazardous.*
  • Glossy Surfaces: For maximum adhesion, scuff sand the surface thoroughly before priming.*

  • Eye protection is recommended.
  • For best results, use at room temperature. Cover adjacent areas to protect from overspray.
  • Shake can vigorously for 1 minute after mixing ball begins to rattle and often during use. Hold can upright, moving from side-to-side while spraying lightly and evenly about 12" from area being painted. 2-3 thin coats produce best results.
  • Topcoat with latex or oil-based paint after 60 minutes. NOTE: On some surfaces, spot priming may cause a non-uniform appearance in the final coat. To avoid this, prime the entire surface.

Dry Time at 77°F (25°C), 50% RH

  • To Recoat / Topcoat: 1 Hour
  • Longer dry time may be required in cooler temperatures and in higher humidity.

Clean up & Disposal

  • Clear spray valve immediately after use by turning can upside down and spraying until only clear gas is released. If spray nozzle becomes clogged, remove and clean.
  • Do not stick pins or wire into can opening.
  • Clean fresh overspray with mineral spirits or paint thinner. Remove dried paint with paint remover, but test small area first to ensure paint remover does not damage substrate.
  • Please consider donating any unused product. For recycling or disposal information contact your local household refuse collection service.
