KILZ® Drywall Primer & Sealer seals new uncoated drywall which helps achieve a uniform professional quality finish in less coats. It dries fast (ready to paint over in 1 hour), easy to clean-up and ready to apply with standard applicators. KILZ Drywall Primer prevents new drywall surface from absorbing too much paint. Helps achieve a uniform professional quality finish and evenly seals drywall to prevent flashing, making the topcoat more uniform.

Should be used under low sheen paints only.  Do not topcoat with glossy paint sheens.

Available in Gallon, 2 Gallon, 3.5 Gallon, and 5 Gallon containers

Surface Preparation

The following steps are recommended for product performance.

  • ​Cover all nail and screw heads with joint compound according to directions and sand to smooth surface.
  • Tape drywall and apply joint compound and allow to fully cure according to directions prior to priming.
  • Sand to smooth surface before priming.
  • Wipe off dust with a damp cloth, allow to dry thoroughly.

Application

IMPORTANT! Do not open can without reading instructions.

  • Brush – High quality Nylon/Polyester.
  • Roller – High quality 3/8-1/2" nap.
  • Airless spray – Fluid Pressure .017-.021" tip / 60 mesh filter.
  • Coverage: 300-400 sq. ft. (27.87-37 m2) per gallon depending on application method and surface
  • Interior use only.
  • For use on uncoated drywall only.
  • Do not use on floors.
  • Do not use when air and surface temperatures are below 50°F or above 90°F.
  • Allow 2 weeks for full cure before washing or cleaning.
  • Do not use over glossy surfaces.
  • Do not topcoat with glossy paint finishes.
  • Shelf life under normal conditions is two years unopened.

Dry Time @ 77°F (25°C), 50% RH

Longer dry time required in cooler temperatures and in higher humidity.

  • To Recoat: 1 hour

Clean-Up & Disposal

  • Use soap and water to clean hands, tools and spills. For recycling or disposal of empty containers and unused product, contact your household refuse collection service.

LIFETIME LIMITED WARRANTY

Masterchem Industries LLC warrants to you, the original residential consumer purchaser, the performance of this product as described on this label for so long as you reside in your home. If this product is found to be defective upon inspection by its representative, Masterchem Industries LLC will, at its option and upon presentation of proof-of purchase (the original receipt), either furnish an equivalent amount of new product or refund the original purchase price of this product to you. This warranty is not transferable. This warranty excludes (1) labor and costs of labor for the application or removal of any product, and (2) any incidental or consequential damages, whether based on breach of express or implied warranty, negligence, strict liability or any other legal theory. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you. To the extent permitted by applicable law, any implied warranties including the implied warranties of merchantability and of fitness for a particular purpose, are limited to the duration of this express warranty. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights, which vary from state to state. USE ONLY WITH ADEQUATE VENTILATION

CAUTION! IRRITANT! HARMFUL OR FATAL IF SWALLOWED. CAUSES EYE AND SKIN IRRITATION. MAY CAUSE RESPIRATORY TRACT IRRITATION. CONTAINS CALCIUM CARBONATE, CRYSTALLINE SILICA AND TITANIUM DIOXIDE. AVOID CONTACT WITH SKIN AND EYES AND AVOID BREATHING VAPORS, SPRAY MIST AND SANDING DUST. Sanding, grinding or abrading may release sanding dust, which may be harmful if inhaled and has been shown to cause lung damage or cancer with long term exposure. Do not breathe dusts, vapor, or spray mist. To avoid breathing in dust, vapors, and spray mist, open windows and doors or use other means to ensure fresh air entry during application, drying, sanding, and/or abrading. If properly used, a respirator (NIOSH approved with particulate pre-filter) may offer additional protection and should be used if adequate ventilation cannot be provided; obtain professional advice before using. If you experience eye watering, headaches, or dizziness during application or drying, increase fresh air or leave the area. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Wash thoroughly after handling. Close container after each use. FIRST AID: If you experience difficulty in breathing, leave the area to obtain fresh air. If continued difficulty is experience, get medical assistance immediately. In case of eye contact, flush immediately with plenty of water for at least 20 minutes and get medical attention; for skin, wash thoroughly with soap and water. If swallowed, get medical attention immediately.
