KILZ® Bonding Primer

KILZ® Concrete & Masonry Bonding Primer is specially formulated to optimize the adhesion of masonry coatings. With proper application, this product provides a sound foundation for coatings with excellent resistance to water, high pH and efflorescence. It can be used on uncoated interior/exterior surfaces such as: concrete, masonry, stucco, cinder block and any porous stone or brick. Do not use on coated surfaces. Not designed for use on wood, metal or silicone treated surfaces. Use only on porous surfaces. NOTE: SOME SURFACES MAY APPEAR SLIGHTLY DARKER AFTER PRODUCT DRIES.

Preparation

The following steps and products are required.

  • Proper surface preparation is required.

  • New concrete must cure for a minimum of 30 days prior to priming.

  • Patch all holes and cracks and allow to dry.

  • Do not apply over previously coated surfaces. For touch-ups where surface coatings have failed, completely remove any loose or peeling paint. To completely strip previous coatings, use KILZ Concrete & Masonry Paint Stripper.

  • For proper penetration and adhesion of primer, use KILZ Concrete & Masonry Cleaner & Etcher to clean and etch the surface.

  • Sprinkle a few drops of water onto the surface. If water is quickly absorbed, the surface is ready. If not absorbed strip or re-etch. Follow all label instructions.

Application

  • For best results, apply when air and surface temperatures are between 50-90°F.

  • Stir primer thoroughly before and occasionally during application. DO NOT DILUTE.

  • Apply using a high quality pump sprayer, 1/4"-3/8" nap roller, nylon/polyester brush, pad applicator.

  • COVERAGE: 350-500 sq. ft.

Dry Time

  • Dries to the touch in 2 hours. Longer dry time required in cooler temperatures and higher humidity. Must apply a topcoat after at least 4 hours, but before 30 days. Primer must be topcoated within 30 days of application.

Clean-Up & Disposal

  • Use any commercially available brush cleaner. Note: Do not use soap and water to clean brushes or other applicators as they will become gummy. Dispose of contaminated absorbent, container and unused product in accordance with all current governmental regulations.

  • Do not dispose of this product down a drain. For recycling or disposal information contact your local household refuse collection service.

Cautions / Limitations

  • Must apply a topcoat after at least 4 hours, but before 30 days.

  • Protect from freezing.

  • For best results, apply at temperatures between 50°F - 90°F. Temperatures above 90°F may affect the application such as drying too fast. Avoid applying in direct sun. NOTE: If the surface is hot to the touch it should be considered too hot to apply this coating.

  • Avoid heavy traffic for 24 hours.

  • Shelf life under normal conditions is two years unopened.

  • Must be top-coated within 30 days.

Masterchem Industries LLC warrants that this product will be free of defects in materials and workmanship for one (1) year from the original date of purchase. This warranty is not transferable. First Aid

  • If you experience difficulty in breathing, leave the area to obtain fresh air. If continued difficulty is experienced, get medical assistance immediately.
  • In case of eye contact, flush immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes and get medical attention.
  • For skin, wash thoroughly with soap and water.
  • If swallowed, get medical attention immediately.
