Surface Preparation

  • Remove any mildew stains with a bleach and water solution or similar commercially available mildew remover then rinse.

  • Sand all glossy surfaces.

  • To determine the condition of the surface, place cloth duct tape in several places on the bare wood. Press the tape down firmly then remove quickly. If wood fibers or debris are pulled onto the tape, additional preparation is required as follows:

  • If debris is found using the above test, remove any loose or peeling paint† and wash off dirt or grease with a non-soapy detergent such as TSP substitute. Remove mill glaze, loose wood fibers, dirt and other debris. Rinse with water and allow to dry completely.

  • If surface is in good condition, apply directly over clean, dry surface.

Application

  • Do not use if temperature is below 50°F (10°C) or if rain is expected within 24 hours.

  • All surfaces must be completely dry.

  • Intermix containers of the same color to ensure color uniformity.

  • Many woods contain tannin which may cause discoloration. Prime these woods with one coat of KILZ PREMIUM to reduce these stains as needed.

  • Coverage varies by porosity. Coverage will be approximately 200 square feet per gallon on porous surfaces; up to 500 square feet per gallon on smooth, nonporous surfaces.

  • Keep a wet edge and always back-brush or back-roll during all application methods.

  • Airless Spray - .015 to .017 tip.

  • Brush - Use a high quality Nylon/Polyester brush.

  • Rolling - Use a high quality 3/8-1/2" nap roller cover on smooth surfaces or 1/2-3/4" nap roller cover on semi-rough or porous surfaces.

Dry Time

  • Dries to the touch in 2-3 hours.

  • Allow 6 to 8 hours of drying prior to recoating.

Clean up & Disposal

  • Use soap and water to clean hands, tools, and spills.

  • Do not dispose of this product down a drain. Please consider donating any unused product. For recycling or disposal information contact your local household refuse collection service.

Cautions/Limitations

  • Protect from freezing.

  • Not for use on horizontal surfaces subject to foot traffic.

  • For best results, apply at temperatures between 50 - 90°F. Temperatures above 90°F may affect the application such as drying too fast. Avoid painting in direct sun. NOTE: If the surface is hot to the touch it should be considered too hot to apply this coating.

  • Avoid heavy traffic for 24 hours.

  • Allow two weeks before washing or cleaning for full cure.

  • Shelf life under normal conditions is two years unopened.

For one year from the date of purchase, Masterchem Industries LLC warrants to the original residential consumer purchaser (1) that the product meets Masterchem Industries LLC’s manufacturing specifications, and (2) the performance of this product when applied according to the label instructions and specifications. In the event that this product proves to be defective within one year from the date of purchase, Masterchem Industries LLC will, at its option and upon presentation of proof-of-purchase (the original receipt), either furnish an equivalent amount of new product or refund the original purchase price of this product to you. This warranty is not transferable. This warranty excludes (1) labor and costs of labor for the application or removal of any product, and (2) any incidental or consequential damages, whether based on breach of express or implied warranty, negligence, strict liability or any other legal theory. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you. To the extent permitted by applicable law, any implied warranties including the implied warranties of merchantability and of fitness for a particular purpose, are limited to the duration of this express warranty.  Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights, which vary from state to state. First Aid

  • If you experience difficulty in breathing, leave the area to obtain fresh air. If continued difficulty is experienced, get medical assistance immediately.
  • In case of eye contact, flush immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes and get medical attention.
  • For skin, wash thoroughly with soap and water.
  • If swallowed, get medical attention immediately.
