Preparation

The following steps are required.

  • New concrete must cure for 30 days.

  • Use an inert absorbent to clean up all excess oil and grease spills. Scrape and sweep away dirt and loose contaminants on surface. For severe oil or grease stains use a product such as KILZ Concrete & Masonry Degreaser & Cleaner.

  • Product should be tested in an inconspicuous area to ensure acceptable performance.

  • Protect grass and any nearby plants by dampening these areas with water and covering with plastic drop cloths.

  • All rinse solution must be prevented from entering storm drains.

Mixing

  • DO NOT MIX IN A METAL CONTAINER.

  • Do not mix KILZ Concrete & Masonry Cleaner & Etcher with bleach or any other household or industrial cleaning products or detergents.

  • For new and lightly stained concrete or to etch galvanized metal combine 1 part of KILZ Concrete & Masonry Cleaner & Etcher and 1 part of water to container. Stir diluted solution thoroughly. Avoid splashing.

Application

  • Wear protective clothing, goggles and acid resistant rubber gloves and boots.

  • Cleans between 150 sq. ft. and 400 sq. ft. depending on dilution ratio. Actual area cleaned will depend on method of application, texture and surface porosity.

  • For best results, evenly distribute product using a plastic watering can or plastic pump sprayer and then work into the surface with a stiff bristled, non-metal brush or broom.

  • On sloped surfaces, start at the lowest point working up to the highest point. Apply to a dry surface for best results. • Allow product to stand for 10-20 minutes then scrub vigorously. Do not let product dry on the surface.

  • COVERAGE: Full Strength 150-200 sq. ft. Diluted 300-400 sq. ft. NOTE: The surface is ready when it feels like medium grit sandpaper and no residue or loose concrete remains on the surface. Dense and smooth surfaces may require additional applications.

Rinsing

Exterior Surfaces: Rinse surface with fresh water while scrubbing to remove all residue then remove excess water with a non-metal squeegee or mop. When the surface is completely dry, inspect it for any residual dust or powder. If residue is found, repeat the rinsing step.

Interior Surfaces: Rinse surface using a mop and bucket to minimize the amount of water left on the concrete surface. Remove excess water with a non-metal squeegee or mop. When the surface is completely dry, inspect it for any residual dust or powder. If residue is found, repeat the rinsing step.

NOTE: Wipe your fingers over the clean floor to check for dust or powder. If residue is visible on your fingers, repeat the rinsing step.

Clean-Up & Disposal

  • Clean equipment, surfaces and clothing with fresh water. If product comes in contact with painted or finished surfaces, rinse immediately with fresh water. Cautions / Limitations

  • Protect from freezing.

  • For best results, apply at temperatures between 50°F - 90°F. Temperatures above 90°F may affect the application such as drying too fast. Avoid applying in direct sun. NOTE: If the surface is hot to the touch it should be considered too hot to apply this coating.

  • Shelf life under normal conditions is two years unopened.
