Preparation†

The following steps and products are required.

  • New and Uncoated Concrete or Masonry Surfaces:
New concrete must cure for a minimum of 30 days. For proper penetration and adhesion of topcoat, use a product such as KILZ Concrete & Masonry Cleaner & Etcher to clean and etch the surface. Apply a product such as KILZ Concrete & Masonry Bonding Primer to increase adhesion of topcoat to the surface.

  • Painted, Stained or Sealed Concrete:
Option 1- To completely strip the entire surface, use a product such as KILZ Concrete & Masonry Paint Stripper.
Option 2- To recoat over an existing coating, remove any loose or peeling paint and scuff sand the surface. Use a product such as KILZ Concrete & Masonry Cleaner & Degreaser to clean previously coated surfaces in sound condition. Use a product such as KILZ Concrete & Masonry Cleaner & Etcher to clean and etch any bare concrete area.

  • Prime all bare concrete areas with a product such as KILZ Concrete & Masonry Bonding Primer to increase adhesion of topcoat to the surface.

Application

  • DO NOT DILUTE.

  • Intermix all cans of same product to ensure colour uniformity. Stir stain before and occasionally during application.

  • For best results, apply when air and surface temperatures are between 10°C- 32°C.

  • Apply a thin, even coat using a 6 mm - 13 mm nap roller cover, pad applicator or a nylon/polyester brush. Use long, even strokes in one direction to avoid lap lines. Since concrete varies in texture/porosity, two coats may be required for uniform colour appearance. Apply a second coat in a criss-cross direction if uniformity is needed.

  • Periodic touch-ups may be necessary.

  • COVERAGE: 46 m² - 56 m² per 3.79 L on smooth surfaces and of 37 m² - 46 m²  per 3.79 L on rough surfaces.

Dry Time

  • Dries to touch in 2 hours. Longer dry time required in cooler temperatures and in higher humidity. Recoat between 2-4 hour.

  • The floor may be subjected to light foot traffic after 24 hours. Allow 72 hours before subjecting surface to heavy foot traffic or repositioning furniture.

  • Park tires on corrugated cardboard for 14 days after applying stain. After two weeks, dry stained surface may be cleaned with a mild, non-abrasive liquid detergent.

Clean-Up & Disposal

  • Clean all tools and equipment with soap and clean water.

  • If spilled, contain material and remove with an inert absorbent. Dispose of contaminated absorbent, container and unused product in accordance with all current governmental regulations.

  • Do not dispose of this product down a drain. For recycling or disposal information contact your local household refuse collection service.

Cautions / Limitations

  • Protect from freezing.

  • Avoid heavy traffic for 72 hours.

  • Allow 14 days cure time before subjecting to washing or cleaning.

  • Shelf life under normal conditions is two years unopened.
