Preparation†

The following steps and products are required.

  • New concrete must cure for a minimum of 30 days.

  • Remove old coating or sealer, if present, using a product such as KILZ Concrete & Masonry Paint Stripper. Test: Sprinkle a few drops of water onto the surface. If water is quickly absorbed, the surface is ready. If not absorbed, re-etch.

  • For proper penetration and adhesion of topcoat, use a product such as KILZ Concrete & Masonry Cleaner & Etcher to clean and etch the surface.

  • Remove mildew stains with a mildew stain removing product.

  • For areas subject to automotive traffic, apply a product such as KILZ Concrete & Masonry Bonding Primer to increase adhesion of topcoat to the surface.

  • Follow all label instructions.

Application

  • DO NOT DILUTE.

  • Intermix all cans of same product to ensure colour uniformity. Stir stain before and occasionally during application.

  • For best results, apply when air and surface temperatures are between 10°C - 32°C.

  • Apply a thin, even coat using a 6 mm - 13 mm nap roller cover, pad applicator or a nylon/polyester brush. Use long, even strokes in one direction to avoid lap lines. Since concrete varies in texture/porosity, two coats may be required for uniform colour appearance. Apply a second coat in a criss-cross direction if uniformity is needed.

  • Periodic touch-ups may be necessary.

  • COVERAGE: 37 m² - 46 m² per gallon on smooth surfaces and of 23 m² - 37 m² per gallon on rough surfaces.

Dry Time

  • Dries to touch in 2 hours. Longer dry time required in cooler temperatures and in higher humidity. Recoat between 2-4 hour.

  • The floor may be subjected to light foot traffic after 24 hours. Allow 72 hours before subjecting surface to heavy foot traffic or repositioning furniture.

  • Park tires on corrugated cardboard for 14 days after applying stain. After two weeks, dry stained surface may be cleaned with a mild, non-abrasive liquid detergent.

Clean-Up & Disposal

  • Clean equipment and paint spatters with warm, soapy water. If spilled, contain material and remove with an inert absorbent. Dispose of contaminated absorbent, container and unused product in accordance with all current governmental regulations.

  • Do not dispose of this product down a drain. For recycling or disposal information contact your local household refuse collection service.

Cautions / Limitations

  • Protect from freezing.

  • For best results, apply at temperatures between 10 °C - 32°C. Temperatures above 32 °C may affect the application such as drying too fast. Avoid applying in direct sun. NOTE: If the surface is hot to the touch it should be considered too hot to apply this coating.

  • Avoid light foot traffic for 24 hours.

  • Avoid heavy foot traffic, repositioning of furniture or automotive traffic for 72 hours.

  • Park tires on corrugated cardboard for 7 days after applying stain.

  • Allow 30 days before washing or cleaning for full cure.
